Effingham proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Champaign Central Maroons 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Hearts sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Effingham's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Champaign Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season.

Effingham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 win against Mattoon on the 22nd. As for Champaign Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 26-2 victory against Peoria on the 23rd.
