Soccer Game Preview: Virginia High vs. Lebanon

The Virginia High Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Lebanon Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Virginia High will be strutting in after a win while Lebanon will be coming in after a defeat.

While Virginia High's victory against Richlands wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bearcats skirted past the Blue Tornado 2-1. Virginia High haven't had any issues with Richlands recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lucy Foy and Chloe Jarvis scored both of Virginia High's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Lebanon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Graham, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Lebanon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Graham are ranked 66th).

Virginia High's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matchups. As for Lebanon, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Virginia High came out on top in a nail-biter against Lebanon when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
