Basketball Recap: Adriel Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ponca City over Bishop Mcguinness

Ponca City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. The match between them and the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish didn't end well, with the Ponca City Wildcats falling 61-42. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 78th).

Ponca City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adriel Miller, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zadyn Stoll, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Bishop McGuinness found their leader in sophomore Brody Parks, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Cooper Bradley, who scored ten points and three blocks.

Ponca City's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Bishop McGuinness, their record now sits at 10-7.

Ponca City will venture away from home to square off against Putnam City West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Putnam City West's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Bishop McGuinness, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-34 win against Holland Hall on the 25th.
