Baseball Game Preview: Air Academy Kadets vs. Lutheran Lions

For the second straight game, Air Academy will face off against Lutheran. The Kadets will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Air Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Lutheran. They had just enough and edged out the Lions 5-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Kadets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ford Farrell tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Air Academy let Logan Sullivan and Sam Steubing run wild. Sullivan went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Steubing went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 9-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Air Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-4-1.
