Basketball Recap: Aaron Hampton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Scott over Newport Central Catholic

Scott was the 87-53 winner over Newport Central Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Scott Eagles lost to the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on the road by a 76-58 margin on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Scott lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aaron Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Kaymon Coleman, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Scott's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Newport Central Catholic, they moved to 8-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Scott and Newport Central Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. Scott will challenge Conner at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 137 places (167 vs. 30). Meanwhile, Newport Central Catholic (ranked 130th) will meet Archbishop Moeller (ranked 20th) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
