Baseball Game Preview: Pine Island Panthers vs. Cannon Falls Bombers

Pine Island has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Cannon Falls has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Panthers will host the Bombers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pine Island 2.5, Cannon Falls 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Pine Island didn't have quite enough to beat Hastings and fell 4-2.

Bodi Horton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Pine Island saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Week, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Alex Knox also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Cannon Falls was able to grind out a solid victory over Pine Island on Monday, taking the game 5-1.

Cannon Falls' win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Pine Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
