New Mexico Military Institute hadn't done well against Ruidoso recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Colts won by a set and slipped past the Warriors 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Colts: when they faced off against the Warriors last Saturday, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

New Mexico Military Institute took Ruidoso into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-14, 25-27, 19-25, 15-12.

New Mexico Military Institute has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 12-6 Dexter and 12-8 Tularosa (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Ruidoso, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 12-9 record.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. New Mexico Military Institute is set to face off against their familiar foe Tularosa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ruidoso will square off against rival Dexter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
