Baseball Recap: Durango Find Success

Durango's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Trailblazers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Aiden Farrell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Durango's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Josiah Lavea-Aldridge was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Durango lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Durango's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-14. As for Sierra Vista, they dropped their record down to 12-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Durango will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mountain Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
