Basketball Recap: Mountain Ridge Takes a Loss

Mountain Ridge lost against Liberty back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions were outmatched by the Liberty Lions and fell 81-40. The Mountain Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-18.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Ridge lost, don't look at Jagger Cockrell. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and five rebounds. Kaleb Bowen also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephan Miller, who went 8 of 17 en route to 19 points and six boards. TJ Harris was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points and six assists.

Mountain Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Boulder Creek the next time they take the court. Mountain Ridge will host Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Liberty will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
