Baseball Game Preview: Sun Prairie West Wolves vs. Milton Red Hawks

The Sun Prairie West Wolves will take on the Milton Red Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sun Prairie West 3.4, Milton 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Sun Prairie West earned a 6-1 win over Madison West. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Regents: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Milton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Norskies.

Karson Lueck looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gavin Cole was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jake Cummins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Milton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Milton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Sun Prairie West, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Sun Prairie West skirted past Milton 8-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
