Softball Recap: A.L. Brown Wins Going Away Against Mooresville

A.L. Brown had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Mooresville on Tuesday. A.L. Brown put the hurt on Mooresville with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Wonders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Mary Katherine Black made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Marynda Blackwelder was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Myla McNeely, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

A.L. Brown's record now sits at 5-2. As for Mooresville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A.L. Brown will venture away from home to challenge Cannon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mooresville, they will head out to square off against West Stanly at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mooresville's pitchers better be ready for this one: West Stanly has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
