Softball Recap: Erskine Academy Find Success

Erskine Academy hadn't done well against Medomak Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Panthers back in April, they had to take a 5-0 defeat.

Kelsie Dunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Erskine Academy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madison Griffiths, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Erskine Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Medomak Valley, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erskine Academy will head out to take on Leavitt at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Medomak Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Mariners at the right time seeing as the Mariners are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
