Baseball Recap: Winston County Comes Up Short

Winston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 8-5 to the Cold Springs Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 on Tuesday.

Will Elliott made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Sellers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Winston County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Cold Springs, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Winston County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hackleburg at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Cold Springs, they will square off against Meek at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
