Basketball Game Preview: Arabia Mountain Rams vs. Woodward Academy War Eagles

Two dominant guards in Joseph Smith and Zachary Foster are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Arabia Mountain Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Arabia Mountain is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lakeside on Tuesday. Arabia Mountain took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeside.

Meanwhile, Woodward Academy entered their tilt with Decatur on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Bulldogs 77-62. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodward Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for Arabia Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Arabia Mountain might still be hurting after the 76-55 loss they got from Woodward Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Arabia Mountain was down 41-19.
