Baseball Recap: Aspen's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Aspen had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let the Meeker Cowboys get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Skiers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Dylan Mika was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Aspen's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Thor Raarup, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Aspen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meeker only managed two hits.

Aspen picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Meeker, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Aspen beat the Cowboys by a score of 9-5 later that day.
