Recap: Marquette Catholic Blazers vs. Whiting Oilers
There's no place like home for the Marquette Catholic Blazers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Whiting by a score of 65-52 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Marquette Catholic, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Marquette Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vaughn Rael-Kludt, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Rael-Kludt has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Aleks Pecoski was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Whiting's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Davenport, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Davenport is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Roman, who scored 11 points.
The win got Marquette Catholic back to even at 6-6. As for Whiting, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
Marquette Catholic will take on Andrean at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Whiting, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Griffith at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
