Softball Recap: Simsbury's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Simsbury dropped their record down to 11-3-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 14-9 to the Bristol Eastern Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 15-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Bristol Eastern, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.

For Bristol Eastern's part, Hailey Beebe made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Beebe was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Brown, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emily Valentine, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Simsbury is set to challenge their familiar foe Bristol Central at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bristol Eastern will take on rival Avon at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
