Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. William Monroe Dragons

The Meridian Mustangs will take on the William Monroe Dragons on Thursday. Meridian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 contests -- so hopefully William Monroe likes a good challenge.

Meridian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They secured a 59-54 W over Skyline. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, William Monroe waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since December 7, 2023.

Meridian's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-0. As for William Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.

Meridian came up short against William Monroe in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 49-39. Can Meridian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
