Baseball Game Preview: Buckeye Trail Warriors vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

The Buckeye Trail Warriors will face off against the Monroe Central Seminoles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Buckeye Trail nor Monroe Central posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Buckeye Trail lost 8-1 to Newcomerstown on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Monroe Central is still undefeated this season after their game against Shadyside on Monday, but Shadyside came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Seminoles never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Seminoles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Monroe Central's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Weckbacher, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Monroe Central pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Buckeye Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything went Buckeye Trail's way against Monroe Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Buckeye Trail made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seminoles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
