Baseball Recap: Bowler Drops Season-High Score on Marion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowler). They were the clear victors by a 24-16 margin over the Marion Mustangs on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Bowler let Blake Brunner and Treyvon Granquist run wild. Brunner went 2-for-6 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Granquist got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Brunner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Wanta, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Bowler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win snapped Bowler's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-5 record. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

The future could be bright for both Bowler and Marion: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Panthers will look to extend White Lake's nine-game losing streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Marion will try to hand Weyauwega-Fremont their third-straight loss when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
