Volleyball Recap: Royalton Royals vs. Paynesville Bulldogs
After flying high against St. Cloud Tech last Monday, Royalton came back down to earth. The Royalton Royals fell just short of the Paynesville Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Royalton took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 26-24, 16-14.
Paynesville can attribute much of their success to Kylie Pauls, who had 17 digs.
Royalton's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Paynesville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Royalton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Foley at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Paynesville, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Holdingford, where the match is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
