Softball Recap: Roy Royals vs. Bonneville Lakers

Roy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Bonneville Lakers. The Royals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lakers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Bonneville, their record is now 5-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Bonneville's part, Peyton Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, Samantha Mills was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kaylee McAfee was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Roy will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Clearfield at 3:30 p.m. As for Bonneville, they will head out to challenge Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.93 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
