Baseball Game Preview: Chenango Valley Warriors vs. Owego Free Academy River Hawks

For the second straight game, Chenango Valley will face off against Owego Free Academy. The Warriors will head out to challenge the River Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chenango Valley has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Owego Free Academy will arrive with four straight wins.

On Wednesday, Chenango Valley came up short against Owego Free Academy and fell 5-1.

For Owego Free Academy's part, Mathew Lewis looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Lewis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Conlan Taylor and Connor Kotski did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Kotski went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI Kotski has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matt Higgins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Chenango Valley now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Owego Free Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.
