Basketball Recap: Josie Barrett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burns over Pine Bluffs

Burns came up into this matchup off a tough 72-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Pine Bluffs Hornets by a score of 45-43 on Thursday. The Broncs have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Burns' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Barrett, who posted 21 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Bach, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Burns' loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Pine Bluffs, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Burns wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-42 defeat against Newcastle on the 7th. As for Pine Bluffs, they will face off against Kimball at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kimball comes in on three and Pine Bluffs on five.
