Volleyball Recap: Gilmer's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Gilmer unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 2-0 to the Central Heights Blue Devils. The Buckeyes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

Averie Mullinax paced Gilmer's offense, picking up eight kills. Mullinax got some help from Brooke Collie and her ten assists. Macy Stocks controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Gilmer's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Central Heights, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-1.

Coincidentally, Gilmer and Central Heights will both be playing Madisonville the next time they take the court. The Buckeyes will host the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
