Basketball Recap: Worthing's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men last Tuesday, Worthing came back down to earth. The Worthing Colts fell 71-62 to the Washington Eagles on Friday. The Colts have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Samuel Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Washington, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Robert Jones was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Worthing's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Washington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Worthing and Washington should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Worthing (ranked 498th) will meet Kashmere (ranked 1067th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Washington (ranked 218th) will meet Furr (ranked 666th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
