Volleyball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Ryan's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Ryan unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Keller Central Chargers by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Ryan started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-14, 25-19.

Evangeline Trahan paced Ryan's offense, picking up 18 kills. Trahan got some help from Emery Hodge and her 17 assists. Finally, Mikayla Keckeissen kept Ryan's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Keller Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Hasenak, who had six digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Hasenak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evah Avina, who had 19 digs and one assist.

Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Keller Central, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Ryan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Azle on the 16th. As for Keller Central, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Poteet on the 16th.
