The Andrew Jackson Tigers will head out to face off against the Duval Charter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Andrew Jackson headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Westside let them put that streak behind them. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 18-8 win on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Dwayne Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Andrew Jackson let Lamar Stanfield and CJ Logan run wild. Stanfield got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run, while Logan scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Logan has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josiah Parker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Andrew Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Duval Charter had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Defenders. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Connor Portelli looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michael Grimaldi, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Haynes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Duval Charter pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Andrew Jackson, their record now sits at 2-14.
Andrew Jackson might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Duval Charter in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
