Recap: Pemberton Hornets vs. Holy Cross Lancers
Even though the Pemberton Hornets have not done well against the Holy Cross Lancers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Pemberton skirted past Holy Cross 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Pemberton has posted yet this season.
Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Emmanuel Doku, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42% of Holy Cross' points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Avian Novoa was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Pemberton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.67 points across that stretch. As for Holy Cross, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Pemberton will head out on the road to square off against Medford Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Medford Tech presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pemberton in New Jersey (Medford Tech is ranked 78th, while Pemberton is ranked 271st). As for Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bordentown at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Bordentown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday.
