Basketball Recap: Suffield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Coventry

On Tuesday, Suffield faced Coventry in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Suffield Wildcats fell to the Coventry Patriots 46-40. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 61-53.

Coventry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hailey Mayo, who posted 11 points and eight boards. Mayo is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Wheeler, who put up 13 points.

Suffield's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Coventry, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

As of now, neither Suffield nor Coventry have any future games scheduled.
