Volleyball Recap: Riverside-Brookfield Starts Season with Win Against Saint Viator + How To Watch

Riverside-Brookfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Saint Viator Lions. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

While Riverside-Brookfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 26-24.

Lucy Boyle paced Riverside-Brookfield's offense, picking up eight kills. Boyle got some help from Claire Cameron and her 20 assists. Boyle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kate Adamski, who had 11 digs and two aces. Olive Meyers was another key player, getting 12 assists.

Saint Viator now has a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Riverside-Brookfield will square off against Normal Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint Viator, they will face off against Lake Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
