Basketball Recap: Batesville Comes Up Short

If Batesville was feeling good fresh off their 70-24 takedown of Pocahontas last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Batesville Pioneers took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Memphis Blue Devils on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Batesville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for West Memphis, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Batesville will head out to take on Paragould at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Batesville is facing Paragould at the right time seeing as Paragould is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for West Memphis, they will face off against Greene County Tech at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st.
