Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Has No Trouble Against Perryville

Hillsboro won against Northwest on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Perryville Pirates 10-4. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Easton Day made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Hillsboro let Gunner Sutton and Keynen Drury run wild. Sutton got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Drury got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Drury a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Partney, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Hillsboro now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Perryville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Hillsboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
