Preview: Phillips Bears vs. Winfield Pirates

Phillips is 2-8 against Winfield since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Phillips Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winfield Pirates at 6:30 p.m. Phillips has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Even though Brilliant scored an imposing 64 points last Friday, Phillips still came out on top. Phillips snuck past Brilliant with a 70-64 victory.

Meanwhile, Winfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Fayette Ware on the road and fell 77-44. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Winfield has scored all season.

Phillips' victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Winfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Phillips was taken down by Winfield 90-50 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Phillips, Ja'borri Mcghee (who scored 20 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
