Baseball Game Preview: Grayslake Central Rams vs. Antioch Sequoits

For the second straight game, Grayslake Central will face off against Antioch. The Rams will be playing at home against the Sequoits at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grayslake Central 3.5, Antioch 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Grayslake Central is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Antioch just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sequoits by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

For Antioch's part, Mason Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, Nathan Yeager was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Antioch's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grayslake Central, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.
