 Columbus East came into Thursday's   game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with  an   8-4  victory over the Trinity Lutheran Cougars  on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for Columbus East, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Baleigh Fish spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
 At the plate, Columbus East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Hermione Robinson, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Lola Watkins, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 On Trinity Lutheran's side,  Grace Lance put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and seven unearned) runs off   six  hits. Lance has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Lance was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
 Columbus East's win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-12. As for Trinity Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus East will  square off against Connersville at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Connersville is coming into the  matchup with four straight  defeats at home,  meaning Columbus East will have to defend against a  squad hungry for a  victory. As for Trinity Lutheran, they will head out on the road to  take on  Scottsburg at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday.
