Baseball Game Preview: Grant Union Prospectors vs. Heppner/Ione Mustangs

Grant Union and Heppner/Ione are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Prospectors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grant Union has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Heppner/Ione will come in with six straight wins.

Irrigon hit Grant Union with a ten-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Prospectors lost 18-8 to the Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Prospectors have suffered since April 11th.

Meanwhile, Heppner/Ione sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Grant Union on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Heppner/Ione's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Grant Union, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
