Basketball Recap: Zeke Garris Key Part of Team Effort in Wildcats Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calvary Day School, Carolina Day was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 81-74 victory over the Cary Academy Chargers.

Carolina Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zeke Garris, who posted 29 points. Garris' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darian Durant, who put up 23 points.

Julian Tweedy and McCoy Williams certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Tweedy dropped a double-double with 34 points and 11 boards, while Williams almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Williams is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Murphy, who had eight points.

Carolina Day now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cary Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Carolina Day will square off against Gaston Christian at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Cary Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-62 loss against Asheville Christian Academy on the 15th.
