Basketball Game Preview: High Point Academy Grizzlies vs. Blacksburg Wildcats

The High Point Academy Grizzlies will head out to face off against the Blacksburg Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: High Point Academy has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Blacksburg will arrive with four straight wins.

On Tuesday, High Point Academy came up short against Landrum and fell 42-32.

Despite the defeat, High Point Academy had strong showings from Amani Slaughter, who posted eight points, and Ella Zhuk, who earned eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Slaughter a new career-high in rebounds (four).

Meanwhile, Blacksburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Brashier Middle College Charter on Friday, taking the game 42-33.

High Point Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Blacksburg, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

High Point Academy came up short against Blacksburg when the teams last played back in January, falling 46-36. Can High Point Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
