Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Athens). They claimed a resounding 61-14 victory over the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Athens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was CHARLI KISER out in front who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. AIDEN SILMON was another key back, rushing for 89 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Athens was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Jacksonville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Athens will face off against Connally at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Cadets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Jacksonville, they will challenge Nacogdoches at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Fightin' Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season.
