Softball Recap: Republic County Comes Up Short

Republic County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellsworth Bearcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the 15-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Avery Stindt and Grae Siemsen did some serious damage despite the final result: Stindt went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Siemsen went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Siemsen has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Popelka, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Republic County's record is now 8-13. As for Ellsworth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

While Republic County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
