Baseball Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Lago Vista Vikings

The Wimberley Texans will venture away from home to challenge the Lago Vista Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wimberley will be strutting in after a victory while Lago Vista will be coming in after a loss.

Wimberley saw some tournament action last Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over Glen Rose. The result was nothing new for the Texans, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ty Thames made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Wimberley's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-0-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaden Hall, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maverick Jacobs, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lago Vista came up short against China Spring on Thursday, falling 8-1.

Wimberley's record now sits at 5-3-1. As for Lago Vista, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
