Basketball Game Preview: Gig Harbor Tides vs. Peninsula Seahawks

The Gig Harbor Tides are taking a road trip to square off against the Peninsula Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gig Harbor is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Gig Harbor humbled Timberline with a 61-18 victory. Given the Tides' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Blazers are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Peninsula suffered their closest defeat since January 10, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Bellarmine Prep by a score of 49-46. The Seahawks have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Gig Harbor will have to contain Grace Richardson as she made an impact in Peninsula's last game. She dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. Richardson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. Kenyon Ballard was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Gig Harbor, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Gig Harbor lost to Peninsula on the road by a decisive 42-27 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Gig Harbor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
