Softball Recap: East Hamilton's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

East Hamilton came out on top against Marion County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Hurricanes walked away with a 6-1 win over the Warriors. That's more bragging rights for the Hurricanes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kailyn Mendoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Georgiana Kapo was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sarah Farris was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The victory (which was East Hamilton's third in a row) raised their record to 15-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Marion County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-15.

Coming up, East Hamilton will take on Howard Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marion County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Chattanooga Central on the 30th.
