Baseball Recap: Harrison Gets the Win

Harrison hadn't done well against Marion recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hornets walked away with a 6-1 win over the Eagles. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Parker Latunski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Harrison is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-13 otherwise. Latunski was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Matthew Latunski was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tommy Hamilton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harrison's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Marion, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Looking ahead, Harrison will head out on the road to square off against Farwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they will venture away from home to take on Lake City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
