Basketball Preview: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Ulysses Tigers
Holcomb is 9-1 against the Tigers since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Holcomb Longhorns will look to defend their home court against the Ulysses Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Holcomb came up short against the Cowboys and fell 50-41.
Despite the defeat, Holcomb got a solid performance out of Halle Jones, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jera Kruleski, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Ulysses had to settle for a 34-32 loss against the Beavers on Friday. Ulysses has not had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Holcomb's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Ulysses, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Everything came up roses for Holcomb against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 63-29 win. Will Holcomb repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
