Football Game Preview: Thompson Warriors vs. Hillcrest Patriots + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in Trent Seaborn and Jordan Shambley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Thompson Warriors will be playing at home against the Hillcrest Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Thompson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Hewitt-Trussville, who was ranked sixth at the time (Thompson was ranked second). The Warriors put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 34-12 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won eight in a row.

Thompson's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Trey Knight and Pryce Lewis. Knight picked up 86 receiving yards and one score while Lewis picked up 70 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 86 receiving yards gave Knight a new career-high.

Thompson's run defense was locked in: Hewitt-Trussville could only muster three yards per carry. The team can thank Chauncy Alo for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Thompson; they were averaging 4.5yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 4.1 per game.

Thompson's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Hewitt-Trussville's side was Damonte Tabb, who made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Tuscaloosa County 67-27. With the Patriots ahead 49-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Thompson better focus on containing Jacobi Harris and Kahden Smith as the pair were huge in Hillcrest's win. Harris gained 151 total yards, while Smith picked up 171 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Thompson, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.

Everything went Thompson's way against Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Thompson made off with a 45-20 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
