Softball Recap: North Hollywood Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

North Hollywood won the last time they faced Reseda and things went their way on Monday too. The Huskies' pitchers stepped up to hand the Regents a 13-0 shutout. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Kaiya Mendoza and Ellison Hinnen were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mendoza tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hinnen struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mendoza went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hinnen went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ayla Soto was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

North Hollywood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reseda only posted an OBP of .176.

North Hollywood pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Reseda, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record.

North Hollywood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-5 win against Sylmar on the 14th. As for Reseda, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-2 victory against Canoga Park on the 14th.
