Basketball Recap: East Clarendon Comes Up Short

East Clarendon lost against Lake City back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The East Clarendon Wolverines lost to the Lake City Panthers on the road by a 52-37 margin.

Despite the loss, East Clarendon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cherish Cochran went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Cochran is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Payton Hanniford, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Lake City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyra Jones, who put up 12 points and four steals. Jada Robinson was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

East Clarendon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Lake City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

East Clarendon has already played their next match (against Latta), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lake City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mullins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
