Baseball Recap: Calhoun Academy Has No Trouble Against Annapolis Area Christian

After only two runs in their last match, Calhoun Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Annapolis Area Christian on Wednesday. Calhoun Academy blew past Annapolis Area Christian 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Roberts looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Asher Ficek and Crews Felder did most of the damage at the plate: Ficek scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Felder scored four runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those two runs gave Ficek a new career-high. Cullen Sightler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Calhoun Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Calhoun Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Annapolis Area Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Calhoun Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarendon Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Calhoun Academy is facing Clarendon Hall at the right time seeing as Clarendon Hall is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Annapolis Area Christian, they will head out to face off against Boys Latin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Boys Latin will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Annapolis Area Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
